Samartex head coach Christopher Ennin has sent a strong message of encouragement to Hohoe United as they continue their fight to avoid relegation in the Ghana Premier League.
Hohoe United boosted their survival hopes with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over the Timber Giants at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. Kekeli Attor scored the only goal of the game early in the second half to seal a vital three points for the Pride of Hohoe.
The first half was nerve cracking, with both teams struggling to create clear chances.
The decisive moment came just three minutes after the break. A quick attacking move found Attor in space, and he calmly finished past the goalkeeper in the 48th minute, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
Samartex responded by pushing more players forward in search of an equaliser, but Hohoe defended strongly and looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
Speaking after the match, Ennin encouraged Hohoe to stay focused as the pressure increases at the bottom of the table.
“Hohoe United must keep pushing. When you’re in the relegation zone, you’re always under pressure. I’ll urge them to stay focused and continue fighting, the sky is the limit. With the right mindset and determination, they can secure their place in the league,” he said at the post-match press conference.
After 24 matches, Samartex are sixth on the league table with 36 points, while Hohoe United sit 16th with 27 points as the relegation battle intensifies.
