Former Asante Kotoko striker Shilla Alhassan has pointed fingers at assistant coach David Ocloo for the club’s lackluster performance in the Ghana Premier League this season.
With the Porcupine Warriors currently sitting in 11th place in the league standings with 33 points, Kotoko has suffered their seventh loss in their previous nine league matches, exacerbating concerns over their form in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Speaking to Kessben FM, Shilla Alhassan expressed reservations regarding the contribution of the assistant coach at the Ghanaian giants.
“Ocloo is not helping the team. He is not assisting the coach during these difficult times. Ocloo was with Hearts of Oak last season and could not meet expectations. Ogum is now bewildered, and Ocloo is supposed to offer support, but he is merely vocalizing for the club,” Alhassan stated.
As the pressure mounts on the coaching staff, Asante Kotoko is gearing up to host log leaders Samartex in matchday 27 of the Ghanaian top-flight on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in response to the club's ongoing struggles, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Life Patron of Asante Kotoko, has called for an emergency meeting.
Scheduled for Thursday, April 19, 2024, the meeting aims to bring together the playing body and Interim Management Committee to address the recent challenges within the team.
