Togbe Afede, the board chairman of Hearts of Oak, expressed his frustration with certain segments of the club's fanbase, suggesting that their actions indicate a lack of desire for the club's success.
In response to recent protests and discontent among fans, Togbe questioned the motives behind the demonstrations, emphasizing the board's extensive efforts to advance the club.
"I don't understand what the fans want and what prompted the demonstration," Togbe remarked. "What do they want that we haven't done? We've done everything. After all this, the only thing that Hearts don't have is a stadium."
He further asserted, "We are streets ahead of all our counterparts. I would even say that we will emerge as one of the very best in the whole of the subregion."
Togbe's remarks reflect his bewilderment at the dissatisfaction among some fans, suggesting that their actions may hinder the club's progress.
“So sometimes it is difficult to know what they really want. So it leads you to believe that they just don’t want the progress of this club unfortunately, only sorry to say.”
While Togbe's leadership off the field has been notable during his decade-long tenure, the club's on-field results have not matched expectations. Despite winning one league title and two FA Cups, Hearts of Oak has yet to achieve sustained success on the pitch.
