Asante Kotoko's Ugandan forward, Steven Mukwala, finds himself in the midst of contract uncertainty as his current deal with the club is set to expire at the end of the season. Mukwala, who joined Kotoko from URA SC in 2022, has reportedly rejected multiple contract offers from the club.

Emmanuel Dasoberi, a member of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) at Kotoko, confirmed Mukwala's desire to leave during an interview on Kessben FM in Kumasi.

Dasoberi stated that despite the club's efforts to renew Mukwala's contract, the player remains adamant about his decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.

"Mukwala Steven Dese doesn’t want to renew his contract. There’ll be a perfect replacement for Mukwala when the season ends," Dasoberi affirmed, assuring Kotoko fans of the club's readiness to find a suitable replacement for the Ugandan forward.

In addition to Mukwala's contract situation, Kotoko is also grappling with negotiations regarding star midfielder Richmond Lamptey. Lamptey, who has attracted interest from clubs in Libya, is yet to finalize terms with Kotoko amid ongoing discussions.

Dasoberi provided insight into the status of negotiations, stating, "Negotiation is still ongoing between Kotoko and Lamptey’s camp."

Both Mukwala and Lamptey have been pivotal figures in Dr. Prosper Ogum’s squad this season, contributing significantly despite the club's current struggles.
