Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has cautioned his players against underrating league newcomers Basake Holy Stars as they prepare for their Week 8 Ghana Premier League match.

The game is set for 15:00 GMT on Sunday, October 27, at CAM Park in Ayinase.

Kotoko enters the match on a three-game winning streak, each by a 1-0 margin, positioning them second in the league standings.

Despite Basake Holy Stars’ mixed results this season—two wins, one draw, and four losses—Ogum emphasized the importance of treating the opponents with respect.

“I think the only threat they can pose to us is when we underrate them. It’s a psychological thing; if we see them as any other side in the Ghana Premier League and approach them with the right attitude, there wouldn’t be any threat,” Ogum stated.

Kotoko will aim to extend their winning run, but Ogum’s comments underscore a cautious approach to avoid any upset against the league newcomers.
