Former Hearts of Oak captain Amankwah Mireku, feels the win against Bechem United over the weekend was an important one and will boost the players confidence but wasn't really impressed with the general performance of the team.
The 'Phobians' were on a two-game losing streak since the start of this season but goals from Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah were enough to hand them their first win of the season.
Aboubakar Ouattara and his charges are hoping to deduce enough motivation from this victory and build on it heading into their subsequent games.
In a recent interview with Gil Media, Amankwah Mireku, who won seven GPL titles in his prime, confessed the performance wasn't really the best but getting the three points was very crucial.
He furthered on by urging the players to show determination and desire to play and win anytime they are in the rainbow colours.
“In terms of the performance, I have not seen anything different. It is just that they scored the goals. When it comes to the performance, I am still not okay,” he told Gil Media.
“I also know that many of the supporters were not okay too, but they have won, that is the most important thing.”
“For now, they can’t do anything about the shortcomings in the team. What they have to do is show a bit more determination. That is the most important thing,”
Hearts of Oak will travel to Nations FC in the next round of matches on Sunday, September 29, at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
