Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has praised the fans for their incredible support following a crucial victory over fierce rivals Hearts of Oak in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors achieved a season double over their arch-rivals with a commanding 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon. This follows a thrilling 3-2 victory earlier in the campaign.
Ugandan international Steven Mukwala was the star of the match, scoring both goals for Kotoko. He opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game and sealed the win with a second goal in injury time, securing maximum points for the team.
In his post-match remarks, Ogum expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support throughout the game.
"The fans were amazing. They were very supportive; they were always behind us when we had the ball, and when we didn't, they remained calm. We didn't experience the usual ranting, and I would like to thank them."
He added, "They should always be patient with us. Anytime we are playing, they should support us. Even when the going gets tough, they should stay calm and support us. That is the only way these players will have the confidence, determination, and desire to play to win."
The victory propels Kotoko into the top half of the table, now in 9th place and moving further away from the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak are in a precarious position, sitting 14th on the table, just two points above the drop zone.
