Hearts of Oak Board Member, Vincent Sowah Odotei believes that Daniel Afriyie Barnieh will extend his deal with the club.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's contract is reported to have expired after three years with the Hearts of Oak.

The former U-20 Ghana captain was part of the Black Stars squad for the 2022 World but didn't feature in any of the games.

Ghana exited from the group stage after losing to Portugal and Uruguay, but managed to beat South Korea.

Hearts of Oak have failed to reach an agreement with the mercurial attacker after several months of negotiations.

Barnieh is reported to be on the radar of European and Asian clubs after lightning up the Ghana Premier League in the last two seasons.

Sowah Odotei believes that Afriyie Barnieh will extend his contract with Hearts of Oak.

"It's not our wish to sit down and wait for a player's contract to run out, it's never so," he told Akoma FM.

"The fact is, one can force a horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink. Because of our vulnerability as a continent where there isn't a lot of money in the kitty, the attraction of people going somewhere else to make money is quite huge. That's where we find ourselves.

"We're still talking to him (Barnie) to get his contract extended and we are very hopeful that it will be done because we believe we've made him a good offer," he added.
