Samartex owner and bankroller, Richard Duah Nsenkyire, has revealed that his team is not prioritizing defending the Ghana Premier League title next season.

The Timber giants emerged as champions in the recently concluded campaign, dethroning Medeama and will be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League.

According to Nsenkyire, the pressure of defending the title is not a priority for Samartex. "Once we've been able to win the league, there will be a lot of pressure on us next season. It's not that we have to defend the title at all cost," he told Kessben FM.

Instead, Nsenkyire is focused on deepening the squad, getting players fit, and doing well in Africa and the Ghana Premier League. "Next season, we are going to play three competitions (FA Cup, Ghana Premier League and CAF Champions League) so it is much more about how to deepen our squad, how to get our players fit and not really thinking of winning the league at all cost," he said.

Samartex recently emerged as winners of the Nsenkyire Cup held in Samreboi, a testament to their impressive form last season.
