Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has acknowledged that his side is still developing the right chemistry despite their opening-day victory over Berekum Chelsea in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Golden City Park on Saturday, thanks to an 80th-minute strike from Albert Amoah after a fine assist from new signing Hubert Gyau.
Speaking after the game, Zito expressed delight with the result but admitted that the team is yet to fully click, given the arrival of several new players during the off-season.
“I’m very happy we had a nice start here in Berekum, and we will use that to motivate ourselves against Kwara United,” Zito said. “We just started the league, and with about 15 new players in the team, the gelling is a problem. But definitely, this is no excuse.”
Kotoko will now turn their attention to continental duties, as they prepare to host Nigerian side Kwara United in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie on Sunday, September 21, at 15:00 GMT.
