Prosper Nartey Ogum on his return to Asante Kotoko, was given a tough test in his first competitive game having failed to grind all three points but is optimistic his side will improve going forward.

The Porcupine Warriors got held by newbies Kpando Heart of Lions to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in their opening fixture of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday night.

The 'Kum Apem' lads were on top in the game and were really good at swinging passes among themselves and made some incursions but all proved futile.

However, Heart of Lions despite being very discipline and solid at the back, topped up with what looked like a very clean goal on the 64th minute through Mustafa Yakubu but mysteriously the assistant line one ruled it out for an offside to deny the goal.

Speaking after the game, Educationist said he was satisfied with the performance of his players because they stuck to the plan but believes they can do better subsequently. He told Prince Annan;

"Yeah, I’m okay with it. I’m satisfied because we have a blend of new and old players trying to get the game model going. So, to me what I saw today is good of individual player."

“But then we can do better. It’s good, better, best. So, what I saw was good. I’m okay with it.”

Asante Kotoko will play as guests to Bibiani Goldstars in the second round of matches.
