Asante Kotoko interim coach, Abdulai Gazale is very optimistic of defending their league title despite trailing leaders Aduana Stars with five points after 25 matches

The Porcupine Warriors had an opportunity to close the gap but blew it wide after being held by regional rivals King Faisal to a goalless draw last Wednesday night in an outstanding GPL week 21 tie.

Gazale took over from Burkinabé gaffer Seydou Zerbo who got jettisoned couple of weeks ago due to poor performance and is yet to taste a defeat since stepping in.

He's played three league matches so far with two draws and a huge 4-0 win over Real Tamale United last week- a string of somehow not a bad results and are now lurking on the 5th spot with 39 points.

Speaking to StarTimes, the enterprising gaffer stated with so much boldness that, with nine games to go, there are still lots of points at stake to claim hence makes it possible for them to defend the league.

"Oh yes. Why not? because we still have about nine matches to go," he told StarTimes after the game.

"With these nine matches, there are a lot of points over there and we also know that those who are on top they are also going to drop points whiles we are also coming up."

The 'Kum Apem' lads will travel to Berekum Chelsea in the next set of matches on April 15.
