Hearts of Oak defender, Mohammed Alhassan has made an arguable statement that, they have the best squad in the Ghana Premier League currently despite not finishing the season as champions.
The 'Phobians' having clinched the double last year, failed to win the GPL this time and lost the trophy to their bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko.
However, there was a consolation for the Rainbow Club who managed to avoid a trophyless campaign after beating Bechem United 2-1 last Sunday night in Kumasi to clinch the FA Cup for a record 12th time in their history.
In an interview with Saddick Adam on Angel TV, the ex- WAFA defender stated when you are to compare player to player, Hearts of Oak will be superior over the clubs in terms of who have the better squad.
'I can say that player for player, Hearts of Oak have the best squad in the league. We have the best players now because you can see from goalkeeping to attack, there's quality everywhere."
Also, he added by talking about the player's warfare and believe at least a 5,000 cedis monthly salary will be enough to keep local players in the GPL for long.
"Let's be honest to ourselves, if a Ghana Premier League player earns 5,000 cedis monthly, no player will leave the country. Because of the suffering we go through, a typical Ghanaian player will be able to spend 2,000 cedis and save 3,000 and that can do a lot."
