Asante Kotoko are one of the favorites tipped to secure the Ghana Premier League title this season, but currently it seems they would have to go out of their way and accrue some vital points in their upcoming league matches.

The Porcupine Warriors prepare to face Nations FC in a crucial regional Derby on Sunday (April 20). The match kicks off at 3:00pm at Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Kotoko currently sits third in the table with 47 points, adrift three points off the top of the summit - as leaders Bibiani Gold Stars hold a three-point advantage.

However, a victory against Nations FC will help the Pocuppines to climb to the second spot as their Sunday opponents currently occupy that position.

Kotoko, who were ruthlessly beaten on Wednesday by Accra Lions know that destiny is firmly in their hands.

Head coach Prosper Ogum emphasised the importance of their upcoming games. “There are some games to go. You will never know what will happen. The game is full of surprises. We have to put ourselves together mentally. Seven more games to go, you never know what will happen.

“I think the key thing now is our mental toughness. We have to put ourselves together mentally," the former WAFA coach said.
