Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng insists that the quality of the pitches in the Ghana Premier League must be improved to get the best out of the players.

The 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) starts this weekend.

Asante Kotoko won the GPL last season with sixty-seven points.

One major challenge of the the GPL is the standard of the football pitches.

Coaches and players have bemoaned the poor quality of football pitches in the country.

Hearts of Oak goalkeepers, Richmond Ayi and Richard Atta have openly criticised the quality of pitches in the league.

George Boateng says the quality of pitches must be improved to help the players to improve the game.

"One thing that stands out for me is definitely the football pitches," he said

"If you want as a coach to play fast football you need better quality of a pitch. If the pitch is good the ball will go faster with a better detail, better shot on target. Everything just improves.

"So this is the one thing that I have noticed that I think will really help the players if they can get better pitches," he concluded.
