Bechem United head coach Kwaku Danso has expressed disappointment following his side’s 1-1 draw with Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League Week 26 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Despite a strong and disciplined performance from the Hunters, who nearly walked away with all three points, Danso believes his side deserved more from the encounter.

Bechem took the lead in the 69th minute through Darlvin Yeboah, who finished off a well-worked move to silence the home fans. Kotoko, chasing the game to protect their position at the top of the table, pushed for an equaliser and were awarded a controversial late penalty. Albert Amoah converted to salvage a point for the Porcupine Warriors.

“It wasn’t bad,” Danso said post-match. “Before the game, I told you we were going to change the narrative, and you’ve seen it yourself. We should have won the game because my boys played to instructions.”

The Bechem United boss, however, declined to comment on the officiating, which drew criticism from some sections of the crowd.

“I don’t want to comment about certain things, so let me reserve my comment on that,” he added.

Bechem United came into the match on the back of two consecutive defeats but executed their game plan with defensive discipline and quick counter-attacks, nearly snatching victory.

Kotoko’s draw allows Bibiani GoldStars to draw level with them at the top of the table. The Porcupine Warriors now face a tough away fixture against Accra Lions, while Bechem United prepare to host GoldStars in a clash that could further influence the title race.
