Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey exhibited a five-star performance against arch rivals Hearts of Oak over the weekend- one that has got the Ghanaian football fans talking.

He was really instrumental in Kotoko's win and marshalled the midfield so well to the level where lots of football people have started calling for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON.

The Porcupine Warriors came from a goal down to beat Hearts of Oak by 2-3 at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday in GPL match-day 14.

Steven Mukwala had a brace coupled with another from Isaac Oppong. Linda Mtange and Martin Karikari got the two consolation for the Phobians.

Speaking in an interview on Kotoko's official YouTube channel, the mercurial playmaker stated they won as a results of determination but bruised over the number of chances they squandered and feels they could have scored more.

"We were determined to win the game for the fans. As players, we were a bit disappointed because we were unable to take our chances but as professional players we will do our best to correct our mistakes. I will also credit my teammates for adhering to instructions” he told the club’s media.

Asante Kotoko are currently on the 7th position with 22 points and will play as guests to Great Olympics in the next round of matches.
