Hon. Mireku Duker, the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, has expressed confidence in Medeama SC, the Ghana Premier League champions, to bring pride to the nation in their upcoming campaign in the CAF Champions League.
As the champions, the Yellow and Mauve have earned a direct qualification to represent Ghana in the prestigious continental competition.
Hon. Duker was present at the coronation match of the Tarkwa-based team, where they convincingly defeated Tamale City at Akoon Park to secure their first-ever premier league title. This achievement also marked the first time in 47 years that a team from the region claimed the premier league title.
"We're so excited. We thank the Almighty God for bringing us this far. We anticipated it. We worked for it and we've seen it today and we believe the sky is even beyond the limit," Hon. Duker told StarTimes.
"We're going to do more and ensure that we represent Ghana well in Africa. That's what we're preparing for and we are so determined to work hard to make you proud," he added.
In their final game of the season at Akoon Park on Sunday, Medeama triumphed over Tamale City with a 3-0 victory.
