Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko remains confident of his side’s chances ahead of their crucial Ghana Premier League clash against table-toppers Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
The week 28 encounter is set to take place at the formidable Dun’s Park, where the home side has maintained an impressive unbeaten run in their last 23 league games.
GoldStars currently lead the standings with 50 points, while Medeama sit in 7th place with 41 points. Despite the significant gap and Medeama’s poor away form this season—just one win in 12 games and six straight losses on the road—Tanko believes his team is capable of causing an upset.
“In most of our away games, we’ve been the better side, but the results didn’t reflect that,” Tanko told the media in his pre-match briefing. “I don’t think this game will be any different—we’re going in to fight for a result.”
The former national team coach also emphasized the importance of cutting out errors and playing with renewed determination.
“We need to put our mistakes behind us and play our usual game. If we stay focused and stick to our plan, I believe we can get something from Bibiani,” he added.
A victory on Sunday would boost Medeama’s hopes of breaking into the top four, while GoldStars will be keen to extend their lead at the summit and maintain their home invincibility.
