President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has confirmed that a new headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will soon be unveiled, following the abrupt termination of the previous deal with betPawa.
The unexpected end to the sponsorship agreement left Ghana’s top-flight league without a title sponsor just three months into a proposed three-year partnership.
The deal, which included provisions for annual renewal, was discontinued without public explanation, raising concerns about financial backing for the league.
With only three matches left in the 2024/25 GPL season, Okraku—who also serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF)—shared the latest update during an interview with GHOne TV.
"The Ghana Football Association has been working around the clock to secure new sponsors for the league, and we will make an announcement soon," he stated.
The GFA remains optimistic that the upcoming sponsorship deal will reinvigorate the league, offering renewed financial support and helping to rebuild confidence among clubs, fans, and other key stakeholders.
