President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has confirmed that a new broadcast partner for the Ghana Premier League will be unveiled soon following the termination of the FA’s contract with Chinese broadcaster StarTimes.

The GFA officially ended its agreement with StarTimes at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, citing a debt of $950,000 owed by the broadcaster. This leaves both the Premier League and the FA Cup currently without an official television partner.

Despite the setback, Mr. Okraku remains optimistic about the league’s commercial appeal and potential to attract new partners.

"Our Premier League is interesting enough to attract TV partners, and we will announce a new partner soon," he told GHOne TV.

Shedding light on the termination, the GFA president explained: “We have ended our partnership with StarTimes. They owe the GFA $950,000.”

In the interim, local television stations including Adom TV, Net2 TV, Metro TV, Original TV, and Globe TV have stepped in to continue airing matches from the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup.

The GFA is expected to announce its new media partner ahead of the 2024/25 season.
