Samartex fans have been eagerly awaiting positive news on Emmanuel Keyekeh's transfer saga since he was spotted in a match for Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars FC.
However, management member of Samartex 1996, Alex Ayamba has given a real update on the player's situation, stating he was expected to renew his contract but failed to show up on the day he was to sign the dotted lines.
"Keyekeh assured us he would renew his contract," Ayamba told Peace FM.
"His manager requested proposals, which we sent, but we've received no reply. Keyekeh did not report back when we resumed on July 1st."
It seems that the Timber Giants - who won the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League with Keyekeh as their captain have not set a deadline for the player, meaning a decision will not to be made before the start of the 2024/25 season whether he will be signing an extension or not.
Samartex made history by becoming winners of the Ghana Premier League last season, deposing Medeama off the trophy.
The Timber Giants will be making their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League. They will face Cameroonian side Victoria United in the preliminary round of the inter-club competition, which has been scheduled for August 16 and 25, 2024.
