Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford expressed his frustration following his team’s 1-0 home defeat to Aduana FC, lamenting that the players failed to replicate training routines during the match.
The result saw Aduana FC move to the top of the Ghana Premier League, two points clear, thanks to a disciplined display that ended Lions’ unbeaten home record this season.
The only goal came in the 51st minute when Patrick Mensah reacted quickly after his initial shot was blocked, expertly guiding the rebound into the net.
Hayford was disappointed with his squad’s inability to execute the strategies drilled in training.
“I told them on the training ground that what we rehearsed was not coming through. So I asked them whether something had gone wrong. Is it anything different from what we do in training and what we expect them to do? That’s why I was furious, because it is not once, twice, or three times,” he said.
The victory puts Aduana FC one point ahead at the summit, with Medeama, in second place, having played one game fewer. Medeama’s weekend fixture against Bibiani GoldStars was postponed, giving Aduana the opportunity to leapfrog the table.
