Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has declared his readiness to represent the Black Stars should he receive a call-up for Ghana's crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Somalia next month.
The 25-year-old centre-back says wearing the national colours would be a proud moment and insists he is prepared to answer the call whenever Ghana requires his services.
Asibey has emerged as one of the standout defenders in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, playing a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak's impressive defensive record.
His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, with the defender winning three consecutive NASCO Man of the Match awards following his displays against Vision FC, Port City FC and Basake Holy Stars.
The Hearts of Oak stalwart once again showcased his quality in the Phobians' victory over Basake Holy Stars on Friday, October 23, further strengthening his case for a place in the national team.
Speaking after the match, Asibey reaffirmed his commitment to representing Ghana whenever the opportunity arises.
“As long as I am a citizen of the Republic of Ghana, I am ready. Whenever the nation needs my services, I’ll come and serve the nation very well,” he said.
The Black Stars are preparing for a decisive double-header against Somalia on November 12 and 16 as they seek to revive their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign after a disappointing start to Group C.
With Ghana searching for defensive solidity ahead of the must-win fixtures, Asibey will be hoping his consistent performances and leadership at Hearts of Oak are enough to earn him a maiden senior national team invitation.
The centre-back has been one of the driving forces behind Hearts' strong start to the campaign and will be eager to translate that form onto the international stage if handed the opportunity.
