Nigeria has been announced as the country to host the upcoming Confederation of African Football Ordinary General Assembly on 21 November, bringing football leaders from across the continent together for discussions on the future of the sport.
The annual meeting will see representatives from CAF’s 54 member associations gather in Nigeria to consider important issues affecting African football.
The decision to hold this year’s assembly in Nigeria was taken following a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee on Friday, 2 October 2026. The meeting was chaired by CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
The General Assembly is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 21 November, and will form part of a busy period for CAF in Nigeria, with the country also due to stage the organisation’s annual awards ceremony in December.
The CAF Awards are scheduled for Lagos on Monday, 7 December, meaning Nigeria will host two significant CAF events within a matter of weeks.
The November gathering is expected to provide an important forum for CAF members as the organisation considers the direction of African football and discusses measures intended to strengthen the sport across the continent.
Among the issues expected to feature are CAF’s continuing reforms, the organisation of its competitions and proposals for new initiatives.
The General Assembly will bring together representatives of the governing body’s 54 member associations, giving them an opportunity to deliberate on matters concerning the administration and development of football in Africa.
The meeting comes as CAF continues efforts to implement reforms and consider ways of improving its competitions and wider activities.
The organisation’s latest decisions were reached as part of a wider set of resolutions approved by its Executive Committee. Those resolutions covered CAF competitions as well as the governing body’s plans for the coming period.
