Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland have secured the services of Swedish-born Nigerian starlet Owen Olague from Swedish third-tier club BK Olympic.

The 15-year-old budding starlet will be joining up with his new employers in January 2027 when he turns 16 as confirmed by the Hedens Drenge in an official statement over his capturing.

''A new talented central defender will soon emerge from the Central Jutland academy, as Swedish Owen Olague will move to FC Midtjylland from BK Olympic in January 2027, when he turns 16. Olague, who has played six games for the Swedish U15 national team, comments below on the choice of FC Midtjylland,'' an official confirmation over his signing reads.

The Super Eagles-prospect defender has told his club's official media channel: ''I have enjoyed my time at BK Olympic, but now I feel it is time to take the next step in my career. FC Midtjylland is a fantastic club, and the people here are really talented. Everything I have experienced so far has felt like one big family.

He added: ''I’m looking forward to developing as a player and a person. When I get here next year, I just have to keep doing my thing – and keep getting stronger, bigger and growing both on and off the pitch. My biggest goal is of course to one day make my debut for the first team.''

Sporting director Jacob Larsen added: ''Owen is a really exciting central defender with some clear top skills in his duel game and in his way of defending the field. He has a really good starting point both physically and mentally, and we see interesting development potential in him. We are pleased that he has chosen FC Midtjylland as his next step, and we look forward to working purposefully with him in our environment.''

Given his talent, the Nigerian senior national team technical bench will now be keeping a close watch on the budding star from afar in a bid to secure his nationality allegiance switch in the near future.
