Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0 at the Al Janoub Stadium in their final group game of ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

 

The Sky Blues commenced the game on a very good note, with the mindset of staying at the back and hit on a a counter break. 

On the 12th minute, the Uruguayans came so close to scoring after Luis Suarez flicked a pass to Darwin Nunez in what looked like a dangerous incursion but was cleared out by Alidu Seidu. 
 
On the 15th minute, pppKudus Mohammed turned nicely to set up Jordan Ayew who cuts in and shoot, saved by the goalkeeper initially, the latter followed up and was brought down for a penalty after a VAR check.
 
Skipper Andre Ayew stepped up and his kick was saved by goalkeeper Sergio Rochet Alvarez.
 
Darwin Nunez had another one on one situation to put his side in front and chipped over Ati Zigi but Mohammed Salisu reacted quickly with a goal line clearance.
 
The Sky Blues finally grabbed the lead on the 26th minute, after Guillermo Varela crossed to Suarez whose shot was initially saved but de Arrascaeta was there and headed into the net. 
 
Uruguay doubled their lead on 32nd minute after Luis Suarez sets up de Arrascaeta who struck at the back of the net to seal his brace. 
 
The Black Stars broke on a counter after Daniel Amartey picked up Kudus Mohammed, turned nicely and sent a powerful hit but was blocked by Jose Gimenez to a wasted corner kick.
 
An explosive start for Ghana in the second half who nearly reduced the deficit but Kudus Mohammed failed to arrive at the end of Osman Bukari's cross.
 
Uruguay were nearly given a penalty after Darwin Nunez looked like been fouled in the box by Daniel Amartey but was subsequently ruled after a VAR check.
 
Another opportunity fell on the path of Ghana after Kamaldeen Sulemana crafted in a beautiful cross which eluded the goalkeeper but Osman Bukari couldn't arrive early.
 
Facundo Pellistri with a huge chance to snatch their third but his effort went side netting.
 
Frederico Valverde sent a belter on the 69th minute but was parried away by Ati Zigi. In a quick response, Kudus Mohammed took off two defenders and hit with his right foot but went wide. 
 
Kudus Mohammed with another one after shooting from outside the box but his effort was piled out by Sergio Rochet Alvarez to a wasted corner kick.
 
It finished 2-0 for Uruguay after full time but will join Ghana to go home as Portugal and South Korea cruise into round of 16.
