Argentina cross swords with Netherlands at the iconic Lusail Stadium in the second quarter final of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup- in a tie which promises to be a thrilling one.

Both countries are known for clashing with each other at the Mundial, having met in the final in 978 of which the Albiceleste won 3-1 to emerge as champions for the first time.

The recent one happens to be 2014 in the semi final- a very close contest which Alejandro Sabella and his men sailed through via penalty shootouts but unfortunately lost the final to Germany.

The Oranges have been unstoppable in this year's competition and are yet to taste a defeat, after finishing as winners of Group A with two wins and a draw over host nation Qatar, Senegal and Ecuador.

Many thought it would be difficult for the three time finalists in the knockout, but proved their worth with a light work to humble the USA by an emphatic 3-1 last Saturday, thanks to a five star performance from Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries; Memphis Depay and Daley Blind were all on the scoresheet.

On the opposition end, Saudi Arabia nearly ruined the dreams but the two time champions uplifted their game with an impressive victories over Mexico and Poland to finish as winners of Group C.

Lionel Messi finally ended his long standing hoodoo by scoring in the knockout of the World Cup, coupled with another from Man City's Julian Alvarez to beat Australia by 2-1 in the round of 16.
