Fernando Santos after securing first win for Portugal, has admitted he monitored Ghana in their recent friendly matches and was very much aware of their plan heading into the game.
The Selecao were really stretched by the Black Stars but managed to secure a hard-earned 3-2 win in the end to set off their World Cup campaign in ablaze.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring account from the spot-kick before Jao Felix and substitute Rafael Leao to seal the win. Ghana's two consolation goals were netted by skipper Andre Ayew and Osman Bukari.
Speaking in an interview after the game, the Portuguese tactician revealed he monitored their friendlies against Brazil and Switzerland and knew their approach before the game.
"Ghana played the way they played against Brazil in the second half and so we expected them to play like that and they did. To be honest, Ghana played very well against Switzerland and we expected they will play like that today. They played like the way they played Brazil in the first half and played like they played Switzerland in the second half. But we won and we are happy."
Portugal will come up against two time champions Uruguay in their second group game.
