Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed his displeasure over the penalty awarded against the Black Stars in the Group H opener on Thursday evening.
The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a painful 3-2 loss to Portugal in the 2022 World Cup opening games at the Stadium 974 in Doha.
The Portuguese opened the score on the 65th minute via a controversial spot-kick which was brilliantly converting by Cristiano Ronaldo after being fouled in the 18-yard box by Salisu Mohammed.
However, Atlético Madrid star Joao Felix and Rafael Leao extended the lead for Portugal before Osman Bukari reduced the deficit for Ghana on the 89th minute of the game
Otto Addo commenting on the controversial penalty said he feels the referee presented a special gift to the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward.
"The referee gave a penalty which was not a penalty. Everyone saw that. Why? Because it's Ronaldo or something?" Addo quizzed
“If somebody scores a goal, congratulations. But this was really a gift. A special gift from the referee.”
Ghana will battle it out with South Korea and Uruguay in the other Group H games.
