Ghanaian midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed optimism as the Black Stars prepare for their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying doubleheader against Sudan.
The two Group F clashes, set for October, are critical for Ghana as they aim to enhance their chances of securing qualification for the tournament.
Speaking to the media after the team’s first training session on Monday, Owusu underscored the importance of the upcoming matches and reassured fans of the team's determination to succeed.
“We know the game against Sudan is a very important game for us. We didn’t have a good game against the other teams. It’s going to be a difficult game for us but we are going to stay together and make our best to win these two games," Elisha Owusu stated.
He also acknowledged the support from the Ghanaian public, emphasizing the team’s commitment to making the nation proud. "We feel blessed to be here in Accra. I know the whole country is behind us, and we will give our maximum effort to deliver a good performance for everyone," he added.
The Black Stars will host Sudan in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with a 4 p.m. kick-off. The team is determined to bounce back from recent challenges and secure back-to-back victories to strengthen their position in the qualification race for the 2025 AFCON.
