As the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers resumes this week, Ghana will enter this week's clash against Sudan in a crucial game.
Ahead of the encounter, Ghana head coach, Otto Addo spoke about their visit to the Accra Sports Stadium and how they feel playing against a team being handled by a Ghanaian.
The person who will be a thorn in the flesh for Ghana is a familiar individual — former Black Stars Coach, Kwesi Appiah.
In spite of all the admiration and respect he has for Appiah, Otto Addo remains committed in his approach.
“We have so much respect for Kwesi Appiah for what he has achieved, but we cannot afford to underrate Sudan,” he noted, aware that any slip-up could cost his side dearly. “Those days of underestimating certain teams in African football are over. This is 2024—everyone can play, and everyone can defend,” he said.
“We have so much respect for Kwesi Appiah and what he has done for the national team and Ghanaian football. But on Thursday, we must put all that aside and focus on the game because it’s about us and what we want to achieve.”
Ghana will host Sudan on 10th October at Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Benina, Libya for the return leg on October 14.
