Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu expressed his satisfaction with the condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch as Ghana prepares for its pivotal match against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
His remarks came after the Black Stars held their first training session at the venue, which will host the game on Thursday, October 10, at 16:00 GMT.
Owusu was among 11 players who participated in the training session, which featured a strong presence from players in the English Premier League and French Ligue 1.
The quality of playing surfaces at Ghana's football venues has faced significant criticism in recent times, leading to concerns about Ghana's ability to host international matches.
Joining Owusu in the training session were AS Monaco's Mohammed Salisu and AJ Auxerre's Gideon Mensah, representing the French Ligue 1 contingent. Following the session, Owusu shared positive feedback about the Accra Stadium's playing surface.
“It was good; I won’t lie to you. The pitch was quite good, and we had an amazing training today. We are really happy that everybody is doing their part to help us play better football,” he stated.
The upcoming game against Sudan marks the first of a doubleheader, with the second leg scheduled for October 14 in Libya.
