The Black Stars of Ghana have been shortlisted for the National Team of the Year award at the upcoming 2025 CAF Awards, following their impressive resurgence on the international stage.

Despite missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the four-time African champions staged a strong comeback by securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The team’s revival and renewed consistency under coach Otto Addo have earned them recognition among Africa’s elite, as they compete for one of CAF’s most prestigious honours.

Ghana faces stiff competition from some of the continent’s top sides, including Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire, the reigning African champions. Also in contention are Cape Verde, who made history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup, and the Atlas Cubs of Morocco, winners of the recent U-20 World Cup.

CAF is expected to announce the date and venue for the 2025 awards ceremony in the coming weeks.
