Ex-midfielder of the Black Stars, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has declared that Ghana football will be doomed if the team is unable to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Badu's comments come prior to Ghana's 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan at the Martyrs February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya on Tuesday, October 15 at 13:00 GMT.
“In case it happens, then the football is dipping. For some years, Ghanaians didn’t ask how we were going to qualify, they always spoke about how to win the cup (AFCON) but if we have left the cup to semifinals, to quarterfinals and now we are struggling at the group stages and now even qualification is getting problematic. Let’s pray it doesn’t get there because if it gets there, that means our football is doomed," Badu told Citi Sports.
Ghana are currently sitting on a time bomb as their qualification to the 2025 AFCON hangs by a thread after a poor run of results, so far, in their qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars were stunned 1-0 by Angola at home, going ahead to draw against Niger, followed by another draw vs Sudan - leaving Ghana limping in third place in Group F.
