Asante Kotoko have assured their players of a special qualification package should they overcome Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff return leg on Friday in Casablanca.

The Porcupine Warriors trail 1-0 from the first leg played at the Accra Sports Stadium and will need an inspired performance to overturn the deficit and reach the group stage of the competition.

Kotoko’s continental campaign has been impressive so far, having eliminated Nigeria’s Kwara United in the previous round with back-to-back wins. However, they face a tougher challenge in Morocco, compounded by the absence of first-choice goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, who is suspended after receiving a red card in the first leg.

Despite the setback, the club’s management remains confident and has promised attractive financial rewards to boost player morale ahead of the decisive encounter.

"Just as we did for the players after they beat Kwara United, there’s a special qualification package in store for them — not only from the club but also from individual supporters — if they manage to qualify over Wydad in Morocco," Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, told Akoma FM.

Kotoko will depend on the leadership and experience of key figures such as Albert Amoah to inspire the squad to an exceptional performance in Casablanca, as they chase a historic return to the group stage for the first time in six years.
