On the sidelines of the 47th CAF General Assembly in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe convened a zonal meeting with the leadership and members of WAFU Zone A on Saturday.

 


Representing WAFU Zone A President Lamin Kaba Bajo, Vice President and Liberia Football Association President Mustapha I. Raji expressed gratitude for the progress made under Motsepe’s leadership.

 


“We extend our thanks and appreciation to you for your stewardship and introduction of a lot of benefits to African football, as evidenced by the introduction of the CAF Impact Program,” Raji said.

 

“Through the initiative headed by the General Secretary Veron, Sarah, and the entire CAF team, CAF is not just touching ground with member associations, but have kept in touch with us, keeping everything alive, and we believe African football is getting better under your leadership. We want to assure you of our commitment towards developing football in our various members associations.”

 


In response, Motsepe praised the work being carried out within WAFU Zone A and stressed the importance of strengthening football across all 54 African nations. He highlighted the need to make football self-sustaining, engaging, and accessible at the national level, enabling teams to host matches at home.

 


The 47th Ordinary CAF General Assembly is scheduled for Monday, 6 October, in Kinshasa, bringing together presidents of all CAF member associations and representatives from the six Zonal Unions to discuss the future of African football.
