Former Ghana U17 head coach Laryea Kingston is disappointed with the way the Black Stars conceded two cheap goals in the first half in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the Central African Republic.
Louis Mafouta's brace gave the Beasts the much needed relief within forty-one minutes. The match ended 4-3 in favour of the Otto Addo led side.
But Laryea Kingston was unhappy with the output of the defenders, making several defensive mistakes and turnovers which hampered the team ending the first half with CAR leading 2-1.
"My disappointment lies with our two centre-backs," he said on GTV Sports Plus.
"If we lose the ball, we should stay compact, but they kept opening up, leading to the two goals.
"We conceded two cheap goals, and the second one was worse. We lost the ball in a wide area, which resulted in a goal.
"I was expecting Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana to press, but they failed to do so," he added.
Concurrently, Ghana bottled up in the second half to secure a 4-3 win. Their next outing, which is the match-day five (of 10) encounter, will be against Chad on 17th, March 2025.
