The Ghana U17 boys team have suffered a 2-0 defeat Côte d’Ivoire in the first of two friendly matches at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium.
After an engaging and even first half that ended goalless, the hosts stepped up after the break to secure the win.
Diabate Yssouf opened the scoring in the 63rd minute before Nomane Guy added a second just eight minutes later to seal victory for the Young Elephants.
The match forms part of Ghana’s preparations ahead of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the team having spent months in camp and engaged in several friendlies before traveling to Côte d’Ivoire for this double-header.
Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum will take positives from the encounter as he continues to shape his squad for the continental showpiece, where Ghana will be making a return for the first time since 2017.
The two sides are set to meet again on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in a second friendly that will provide another crucial test as both teams continues with their preparations.
Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside South Africa, Senegal and Algeria for the tournament in Morocco.
