The Yellow and Mauves defeated Nigerian outfit Remo Stars on penalties to advance, and the Communications Director of Medeama SC, Patrick Akoto is confident they can reach the group stages of the competition.

Akoto is optimistic that the club will overpower Horoya Athletic Club (AC) to qualify to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

“Let me just add Mr. President that amid all the doubts and its associated concomitants we have managed to navigate our way through the waters in Nigeria to beat Remo Stars and advance. We promise you that despite the humongous task against Horoya we are determined to make Ghana very very proud by qualifying for the group stage,” Akoto said during the launch of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season on Tuesday, August 29.

Medeama will host Horoya in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the Champions League at the Cape Coast stadium on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The second leg will be played in September at the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry, Guinea.
