Ghana shot-stopper Richard Ofori has clinched his second MTN 8 Cup with Orlando Pirates after defeating Amazulu FC in the 2022 final on Saturday evening.
Orlando Pirates claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AmaZulu to win the 2022 MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The Buccaneers won the MTN8 for an 11th time (and a second in the past three editions of the tournament) thanks to a first-half strike from Monnapule Saleng, while Usuthu’s wait to end a long silverware drought goes on, with their last major triumph being the Coca-Cola Cup way back in 1992.
Ofori enjoyed the entire duration of the game with a brilliant output in the sticks of Orlando Pirates while his compatriot Kwame Peprah failed to make the match-day squad list.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper was named in Ghana's 55-man provisional squad list for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which was announced on Friday by Coach Otto Addo.
Ofori is expected to make the Black Stars final 26-man list for the World Cup which will commence later this month in Qatar.
