Head coach of Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro has thanked South African Premier Division side Chippa United for releasing Stanley Nwabali for national duties.
At the 34th African Cup of Nations, which is currently ongoing in Ivory Coast, Nwabali has become a remarkable discovery
Nwabali, 27, saved Bafana's Teboho Mokoena and Evidence Makgopa's penalties for the Super Eagles during the shootout, while Kelechi Iheanacho notched the last kick to complete the victory to secure the final berth and the Man of the Match award.
“Chippa United, thank you very much Chippa United goalkeeper coach, staff," Peseiro said.
“I concluded that this guy has the quality, and capacity to defend and fight with Francis Uzoho and he gets the number one spot."
Nigeria will face host nation Ivory Coast on Sunday at Olympique Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan for the finals with Nwabali expected to be in-goal as usual.
