Joseph Narbi, the talented winger, exuded joy as he secured the Most Valuable Player award following Ghana's triumphant start against Ivory Coast in the WAFU Zone B U17 Africa Cup of Nations opener.
Narbi's two-goal performance propelled the Black Starlets to a commanding 5-1 victory over their rivals at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
With goals from Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, Mark Kagawa Mensah, and Joseph Narbi's brace, the Black Starlets secured a resounding triumph on Wednesday.
Narbi initiated the scoring with a stunning half-volley and swiftly added another before halftime.
"I'm thrilled to receive this award. It's an honor to be chosen as the best player out of 22 talented individuals. I'm grateful to the fans and my coaches for this recognition," Narbi expressed.
"Although the first half didn't unfold as planned, scoring early was crucial. At halftime, the coach provided guidance, and we executed his instructions, resulting in victory," he added.
Next up, the Black Starlets will face Benin in their second encounter of the competition.
Ghana U17 is determined to secure qualification to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in seven years, with their last appearance dating back to 2017.
