Ghana assistant coach Desmond Offei has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ chances of securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

After four matches in Group I, Ghana is currently tied at the top of the table with Comoros, both sitting on nine points. The Black Stars remain in a strong position as they push for a return to the global stage.

Speaking to Citi FM, Ofei emphasized the team’s commitment and the structural improvements being made to enhance their qualification hopes.

"We have a lot of work to do, but I think we’re in a good position to qualify for the World Cup. Everyone is hungry for success. We have a new head of video analysis, a psychologist—or sports mental coach, as you might call it—so I feel like there’s real determination to ensure we qualify for the World Cup," he said.

Ghana will resume their qualification campaign in March 2025, facing Chad and Madagascar in two crucial fixtures that could determine their fate in the race for a World Cup spot.
