Patrick Akoto, the senior communications manager for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is in Cote D'Ivoire for a three-day workshop on media strategies for the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone B), which is the first of its type in the flourishing region.

From Tuesday, February 4 to Thursday, February 6, 2025, the three-day course will take place in WAFU B's new headquarters in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast.

All seven of the regional body's representatives are present, and a representative from WAFU Zone A has also been asked to join the training event.

The workshop focuses on digital communication, sports communication, crisis management and sensitive communication, sponsorship, and partnership, amongst other exciting topics.

The workshop will provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to develop effective media and communication strategies aimed at improving the promotion of football across the divide.

The knowledge shared at the workshop will enhance the operations of the Communication Department of the Associations and the sub-regional body.

The President of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss Diallo, opened the workshop on behalf of WAFU B President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, alongside hardworking WAFU B Executive Director, Philippe Tchere.

Participants are being trained on various aspects of media relations, content creation, and digital communication strategies.

The purpose of the seminars is to assist the member associations in improving the various communication channels, strengthening their media presence, and more successfully interacting with supporters.

By guaranteeing that the region's football activities receive greater coverage and awareness on both local and international platforms, the program demonstrates WAFU's dedication to raising the standard of football management in West Africa.

The program is being organized by WAFU B in collaboration with DW, France24, and the Côte d'Ivoire Digital Press Network.
