Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury while playing for Rayo Vallecano.
The center-back suffered the injury during Vallecano’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla, forcing him off in the 35th minute.
Spanish media reports indicate that the 26-year-old will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Mumin has been a key player for Vallecano this season, featuring in 24 of their 26 La Liga matches and leading the league in blocks.
His absence is also a blow to Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24, respectively.
While he is expected to miss those crucial fixtures, there is hope that he could recover in time for the seventh and eighth rounds of qualification matches.
The former Vitoria SC defender has earned two caps for Ghana’s senior national team.
