Anderlecht chief Jesper Fredberg has announced that the club is currently assessing the situation of Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025.

The Black Stars midfielder has had a challenging season, making only six appearances in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League due to persistent injuries.

Across all competitions, Ashimeru featured in 15 matches for Anderlecht without scoring or assisting.

In a statement on the club’s website, Fredberg highlighted Ashimeru's unique qualities, emphasizing the club's ongoing evaluation of his future. "He has something that few players have. He plays football directly and vertically. Unfortunately, he is out of action too often. His contract expires at the end of next season and we are looking at his situation," Fredberg said.

Ashimeru also missed the Black Stars' recent World Cup qualifying matches against Mali and the Central African Republic due to injury.

Ghana is aiming to improve its performance in the qualifiers after a mixed start, which included a win against Madagascar and a defeat to Comoros.
