After helping AS Monaco secure UEFA Champions League spot for the 2024/25 football season, Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has expressed huge excitement and can't wait to make his debut in the biggest European club competition.

The 25-year-old despite battling injuries in the early stages of the just-finished season managed to bounce back stronger subsequently and once again had himself in coach Otto Addo's 26-man squad.

Salisu due to injuries, made only 13 appearances in all competitions, 12 in the French Ligue 1, with an assist for the Red and Whites in the 2023/24 campaign.

In a recent interview, the stalwart center-back stated he is very much satisfied with how he ended the season and the fact that he helped Monaco qualify for the Champions League.

"With my club, I had only ups. For me, I am satisfied with my performance and we end up in a good position and we are in the Champions League, so I just need to focus on next season."

The Black Stars have been camping since last week and have already held series of training sessions to have themselves adequately prepared for the games coming up.

The team is expected to depart the country today en route to Bamako for the game against the Eagles of Mali this Thursday, June 6.

They will host the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic afterwards on June 10, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
