Former England striker Jermain Defoe has praised Antoine Semenyo after the Ghana forward’s strong start at Manchester City.
Semenyo scored on his debut against Exeter City and followed that up with another goal against Newcastle United in his first two matches for the club. He then netted his first Premier League goal for City in Saturday’s 2–0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium.
City took the lead early when Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush scored in the sixth minute. Semenyo made sure of the win just before half-time, finding the net in the 45th minute.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Defoe was full of admiration for the 26-year-old’s performance.
“We have seen him do that a lot of times, but to do that, it was special,” Defoe said.
“He scores goals and assists as well. He is just unplayable. He is dynamic.”
Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth, has now scored three goals in four appearances since arriving at the club.
He will look to keep up his fine form when City host Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday, before a Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, January 1.
