Athletic Club skipper, Inaki Williams is currently a huge doubt for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros following his recent injury.

The 31-year-old after a long search finally got his first goal of the season in their 2-1 victory over Real Mallorca earlier on Saturday in matchday 8 of the La Liga to halt their recent six-game winless run in all competitions.

The lanky striker started the game well and earned a penalty for the Lions in just eight minutes from kickoff. He stepped up and converted on his own to snatch the lead.

However, Inaki couldn’t complete the game due to injury and was subbed off in the 53rd minute and was replaced by his younger brother Nico Williams - who is also just returning from injury.

As it stands, the extent of the injury hasn’t been determined yet as scans are yet to be taken but his manager Ernesto Valverde said he has no idea but wish he doesn’t go so he could recover and get ready after the October international window.

“I don’t know but I imagine he won’t go. I don’t know if they will have to do any tests or what the protocol is, but things are as they are.”

Inaki Williams has been included in the Black Stars squad who are expected to open camp in Morocco tomorrow but is yet to confirm whether he will honour the invite or not.
